B Scan

A B-scan, short for "Brightness-scan," is a type of ultrasound imaging technique used primarily in ophthalmology to produce cross-sectional images of the eye's internal structures. It employs high-frequency sound waves to create detailed two-dimensional images of the eye, particularly the posterior segment, including the retina, vitreous humor, choroid, and optic nerve. B-scan ultrasound is valuable for diagnosing conditions such as retinal detachment, vitreous hemorrhage, intraocular tumors, and other abnormalities not easily visible with traditional ophthalmic examination methods. This non-invasive procedure helps ophthalmologists assess ocular health and guide treatment decisions effectively.
